 Perfect for the apartment... August 2, 2010

I purchased this kit over a year ago to keep with me at my new apartment and am perfectly happy with it. Overall the quality of the tools is very good and they are solidly made, the case is perfect holding everything in place and it helps you know when you forgot to return a tool. This toolkit has everything one needs for basic home repairs and is perfect for apartment living. I use it all the time for fixing squeaky cabinets and loose doors, hanging pictures, etc. If you are looking to do serious work this kit might be a little lacking, but for the most part it has everything I would use even when I'm at my parents house with the full disposal of my dad's workshop.
Two gripes though.
Firstly the drill, it is battery powered only. Since I use the kit rarely this can be a pain. Instead of being able to plug the drill into the nearest outlet and be up and running right away you have to wait for the battery to charge before you can go.
Secondly, it would have been nice if there was room in the kit for a small box to contain a few different types of nails and screws.
Neither of these gripes are big deals though and I still feel this product rates 5 stars. I have plans on this being my go to present for housewarming gifts in the future and every person I have leant this too has loved it.

This looks very good at pictures and first glance. But in fact it is not a high quality product, tools are not Cr-Va, but made of drop-cast steel (at least manufacturer admits that, and doesn't blindly put Cr-Va), I expected a bit better quality of manual wrenches, socket wrenches look better than manual ones. However a) it fits perfectly for someone like me, taking hammer and wrench only once in a two-three months to quick fix something simple b) what would one expect from 80$ kit which also includes power drill (which I haven't used yet)? A good power drill itself costs $200+.
And I liked that it has lots of manual wrenches except the socket ones, I like them, so that's why I've preferred this toolset to 133 piece one.

Bought this kit to help with work around a second home so I wouldn't have to cart tools between the two.
I'm use to Craftsmen or better tools especially for non house type work (cars, bikes etc).
I've used it spareingly so far but it hasn't let me down. Time will tell.
The electric drill doesn't appear that its going to take much use. The hammer is a real light weight and the screw drivers have weird proportions.
I wouldn't rely on this kit as my only set of tools - I question the durability of what's included but it does seem a reasonably kit given the cost. It would probably take several times the cost to assembly a similar kit with higher grade tools.
I would have appreciated a listing of what was included in this kit. Couldn't find any such list even on the Black & Decker web site.
So yeah I'd reccommend it but with the above reservations.

i bought this for my husband for father's day and he loved it!! it is complete, everything that u may be needing for house repairs are in it. it is ok that it is heavy, coz u wont be needing anything else.

I love this tool kit! Everything about it is excellent. For me, this tool set replaces every other tool I've purchased over the years. When I start a new project, I just carry this case with me and I have everything I need for simple home repairs, furniture assemblies, wall installations, etc. I think this is the perfect gift for college grads and people buying their first home.
I cannot overemphasize - this is probably the most useful thing I own.
